Things that keep me awake at night

I have been swamped for the last few days, and that is a good sign. We are developing new consulting clients and I am finding new outlets for my latest line of custom wood products. I am also trying to make sense out of our 2003 business expenses.

So, at the end of a busy day, I try to unwind by browsing through some of the blogs I haven’t visited in a while. This too often leads me from one blog to another until I find myself bleary-eyed looking at a quote like the following:

I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

—Sverre Slotte

I spend the next hour looking for background material on Sverre Slotte and can find nothing to explain what his grandfather had been doing.

I finally tear myself away from the computer, slog off to bed, and lie there running various scenarious through my mind until unconsciousness claims me.

Does anyone have a clue what this his quote is about?

Let me know. Then we can take up the interesting history of, “Maybe the horse will sing.” which has been attributed to Herodotus.

That wonderful tale of unflappable optimism gained new life during an encounter between Microsoft TV guys and the Liberate folks who were attending the iTV Conference in Amsterdam.

Someday, I’ll have to stop myself from collecting internet flotsam.
But not just yet…
