Michael has distinguished himself as a war correspondent because he brings us the inside stories of the people involved on the front lines. His uniquely personal point of view has fascinated those of us who value the truth even when it does not agree with our preconceived views.

His photographs have captured the stark drama of distant battlefields as well as the personal stories that contribute to a miltary campaign.

In addition to his reporting of action on the front lines, he has captured the beauty of quiet moments in out of the way places with some memorable images.

Between wars he continues to bring us scenes from far-flung corners of the world and this latest photo story is an example of a new format he has adopted. The Jungle Twins tells the story of his 246 mile journey to the remote villages of Thailand for a glimpse of rare twin elephants.
