Now, if we can only cross-breed one of these with domestic fowl, we will have more drumsticks than we can shake a fork at.<\/p>\n<p>This was an adult turkey guiding a flock of young turkeys across the Blue Ridge Parkway <span style=\"color: #3399ff;\"><em>and one of the little ones must have been directly behind her.<\/em><\/span> All in all there were about 15 young turkeys in the flock and her family procession stopped traffic for a few minutes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ripples.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/2007\/08\/20\/wildturkeys1.jpg\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href, '_blank', 'width=600,height=191,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"470\" height=\"149\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Wildturkeys1\" title=\"Wildturkeys1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.making-ripples.com\/images\/2007\/08\/20\/wildturkeys1.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThis is just the tail end of the procession and&nbsp; momma is bringing up the rear. <\/p>\n<p>As the young turkeys made it to safety, the female turkey arched her back and slowly strutted the last few steps across the Parkway.<\/p>\n<p> It made a grand finale to the procession.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/ripples.typepad.com\/photos\/uncategorized\/2007\/08\/20\/wildturkey.jpg\" onclick=\"window.open(this.href, '_blank', 'width=592,height=616,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,toolbar=no,directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,status=no,left=0,top=0'); return false\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"320\" height=\"332\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Wildturkey\" title=\"Wildturkey\" src=\"http:\/\/www.making-ripples.com\/images\/2007\/08\/20\/wildturkey.jpg\" style=\"margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left;\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I encountered this &quot;mutant&quot; wild turkey that apparently has four legs.
