It is about time that the Populist viewpoint was represented in Washington. Having spent years among the techie elite of Silicon Valley, I can appreciate their viewpoints and their drive to succeed, but I know how out of touch they were and still are with the people of California who they depend on for food and shelter.In a similar way, I can appreciate the charm of our former congressman and his generosity in bestowing federal money upon our part of Virginia, but his go along-get along attitude and mutual backscratching with those involved in crony capitalism made him a threat to our future.
I feel that small businesses and fully employed workers are the key to economic recovery, so fiscal responsibility and safeguarding the American people is a top priority for those of us who can foresee the consequences of autocratic central control and opening the borders to immigrants who do not wish to assimilate or follow American laws.
Anyone who works for a living and whose income is a result of producing valuable goods and services knows the value of delivering what is needed and wanted. Government which only responds to those who claim victimhood and penalizes individual enterprise is not in business to serve the taxpayers who pay for that government.
It is time for a change. I think that Donald Trump offers the best chance of us seeing this badly needed change.
