The Floyd Chamber of Commerce hs sent out an invitation to the NRV Livability Initiative Kick-Off Summit to be held on August 11 at Claytor Lake State Park in Dublin, VA 24084.
The NRV Livability Initiative is a three-year regional planning process to help citizens build a collective vision for our future.
I have had concerns about the goals of the NRV Livability Initiative based on materials I have read from outside sources. I think it is only fair that I should avail myself of the opportunity to participate in the ongoing planning process and get the facts for myself.
I plan on attending and participating with the other business owners who were invited and seeing what we can accomplish to enhance our economic competitiveness.
I am also interested in learning what the concensus of opinion is on enhancing and safeguarding the things we value most in our community.
I hope to see what can be accomplished.
Here is the invitation:

Let's plan for our community…as a community!
- How can we enhance our economic competitiveness?
- What kinds of housing choices do we want?
- What kinds of transportation options do we prefer?
- Can we reduce the cost of housing and transportation?
- How can we enhance and safeguard the things we value most in our community?
The NRV Livability Initiative is a three-year regional planning process to help citizens build a collective vision for our future. The Community Foundation is a proud partner in this initiative.
At the Kick-Off Summit you will have the opportunity to learn more about the initiative and participate in a conversation about our region's strengths and the challenges facing the New River Valley. Visit www.nrvlivability.org to learn more.
