I have been using Reach and Withdraw for years, but I still don’t have it fully under control. I was asking my spiritual companions about Mars this morning in a solo session and I managed to pull in a huge mass of spiritual confusion in just a few minutes. When I say spiritual confusion, it is the best description I know to describe the unconsciousness that moves in on me when I look at certain things that are highly charged. This wouldn’t have happened if I had been doing reach and withdraw correctly.

Certain events evoke emotions when they are recalled. Then, some incidents make me go unconscious when I try to think about them. In reviewing these activities, I see that I did not prepare myself to reach and withdraw. I reached out to the spirits in my vicinity and asked them a few simple questions about Mars. I received a few terse responses and a fleeting impression of an environment that is cold and lonely and my perceptions shut down as I began to yawn and a heaviness moved in on me.
I did a quick process of locating myself in my workspace and noticing things in my environment until the heaviness lifted enough so I could start writing this post. I should have known better, because the last time I did something like this, I pulled in a serious bout of vertigo that lasted for several hours. I had merely wondered how godlike beings had managed to degrade themselves to the point where they were barely able to animate and run human bodies.
This confirmed the fact that we are immortal beings and we have memories that are so heavily charged that rummaging around in them can be painful. Reaching and Withdrawing is not rummaging around wide-eyed in our past memories. It is a knowing approach to perceiving something by putting attention on a time or place in the past or future with the object of gaining information and then withdrawing that attention back to present time and location each time new information is obtained. There are incidents and locations that can capture your attention and hold it until you lose control of yourself. Some of these are traps that were deliberately constructed, while others are incidents that trigger involuntary reactions because of their content.
If you are actually reaching and withdrawing to gather information about an unknown place or incident, you need to be prepared to withdraw immediately as soon as you gather new data about whatever you are perceiving and assess the value of what you have just learned before reaching again. In this way, you have a decent chance to learn enough about whatever you are looking at before you get hurt or captured by what is there. You can usually perceive that something is dangerous before you are so involved that you and your attention are trapped and you suffer damage.
Perception is more than just looking at something. You have the capability to detect intentions and emotions as well as whether the target of your attention has attention on you. Development of these abilities requires training, but there are many people capable of training you other than those of us who use spiritual rescue technology.
As I said at the beginning of this post, I need to refresh my reach and withdraw skills before I do any more adventuring into what’s on Mars these days. I plan on doing some demonstrations in our SRT Workshop this Sunday at 12 noon Eastern time. Join us on Zoom using the usual link if you would like to sharpen your reach and withdraw skills.
