Sherman is some sort of Burmese cross this lifetime. He’s a handsome and graceful cat whose major failing is that he has not been in a cat body enough lifetimes to understand the drill.

Yesterday, we cut down a 100 foot white oak tree in our back yard and I have been hearing Joni Mitchell’s song in my head ever since. This tall, straight tree stood high above our house next to the red oak that fell on us during hurricane Isabel.

Now that telecommuting and home offices are endemic, it is time to revisit the role of the modern working cat.
