Showdown in Fallujah
This revealing email from Lt. Col. David BELLON, USMC seems to indicate that the city of terrorists is about to end its 8 month downward spiral by going out in a blaze of gunfire.
David writes, "They believe that they can hold Fallujah. In fact, they have come from all over to be part of its glorious defense."
His description of the current situation is well worth reading.
We may look in the next few months and see this as one of the more fortunate consequences of our earlier withdrawal from Fallujah. Instead of having to search for these terrorists, they have gathered themselves in one place where they can be effectively disposed of.
At this point, it appears that the only people left in Fallujah are those who support the terrorists. Those who fled earlier are willing for the Marines and Iraqi forces to reduce the city to rubble, if necessary, to get rid of the vermin that infests it.

Taking time out to enjoy life
One of the outstanding benefits of breaking away from a contractual relationship (whether by being fired or resigning) is that you are suddenly able to take time to look around and see what nature has been doing since you plunged into the rathole so many months, or even years ago.
We have lived up the road from a beautiful lake for two years, but have not had time to join our neighbors on their boat although they have invited us several times. This week, Gretchen and I took time for a long boat ride with them around Lake Monticello.

Garbage in = Garbage out
This realization hit me hard this morning as I read again the conclusions reached by some well-educated, well-meaning people. The truism, about garbage in – garbage out, applies not only to digital computers, but to the finest computer of all, the human mind. Our decisions are only as good as the data we base them on.
If we get bad data from people we trust, we are set up for failure. No matter how sincere we are and how hard we work, our efforts are being booby-trapped by the falsehoods we unknowingly use and propagate to others.
If we get our information from the press, or TV, we are already sliding down the slippery slope of biased reporting, and we have little idea of what is happening to us because there is no channel that reveals its bias. It is hard enough to identify the real source of the information they purport to pass on.

May the body bags of Beslan never be seen in Baltimore
A moving photo essay by Gerard Van der Leun. (Via Instapundit ) UPDATE: When a well-meaning liberal says, about terrorists, “Why don’t we just ask them why they don’t like us?”, I want them to explain to me first why … Continue reading
