Let every voice be clearly heard
I am learning more about the presidential candidates than I ever expected and it’s because bloggers are free to say what they mean.
They may rant, or persuade with great eloquence, or spit out mind-numbing arrays of data, but they usually manage to say all that they want and provide some way to check on their sources.
I don’t have to agree with them, and I often don’t, but I get reams of data and some interesting insights when my blogging friends report on political issues like abuse of the environment, or on the questionable veracity of a candidate. I can always dig deeper and see what the original facts were and make a decision for myself.

Abandoned Temples – Bi-Coastal Blogging
Vast campuses of shining white buildings stand empty like abandoned temples of technology waiting for new throngs of believers. Their mirror-glass windows reflect immaculate lawns and fountain, surrounded by vacant parking lots.

These buildings and grounds are so beautiful and so carefully maintained that I felt like a visitor to an ancient site. Although these are modern buildings, the intense blue sky and the white structures even brought to mind the Temple of Poseidon at Sounion.

On Capitola Beach – Bi-Coastal Blogging
This is a region of contradictions. While Silicon Valley, just over the mountains, may be a hollow shell of its previous splendor, life goes on as usual in Capitola and Santa Cruz. Tourists browse, locals sun themselves, and children still play in the surf.
Bill Shaffer, my writer friend, and I sauntered down the beach at Capitola with no particular goal in mind and all the time in the world to enjoy ourselves. We took pictures, enjoyed the sea air, and discussed our plans for developing our writing skills and getting published.

Wending our way through clusters of sunbathers, we noticed a few who stood out from the others, not so much because of their lack of tan, but by their attitudes. Regular sunbathers are lazily indolent, these seemed to be somewhat wary of garnering attention.

Bi-Coastal Blogging
I am blogging today from a vantage point in Santa Clara, CA where I can see the incredible economic engine of Silicon Valley spread out in front of me.
It is spring here and the normally camel-colored hills are pale green. It has been a year since I last inhaled this warm dry air with its tangy aftertaste of smog and money. The energy level may have abated a bit, since traffic sems to be lighter, but there is still the sense of a society totally immersed and driven by technology.
