Getting our national priorities straight
As a nation, we have many ongoing problems to solve in the next four years and beyond. Our assignment of priorities will have an irrevocable effect on our lives and the lives of our children.
We can set environmental concerns, global warming, pollution, preserving wetlands, snail darters and bunnies as our top national priority or we can put out the terrorist fires that are breaking out all over the world first. I am a nature lover and feed deer in my back yard every day, but my attention is on the world scene and the ignorance that supports the growing threat of creeping terrorism.
There are those who choose to ignore that we are in a war for our very existence as a nation and prefer to focus on the fact that environmental issues are not being given the priority that they could be. They do not seem to understand that ignoring or appeasing terrorists is not an option. If we do not ensure the security of our country first, there will be no opportunity to protect our natural resources.

Spam Update
92.72% of my email is spam. Whoop de do…
Fortunately, I don’t see any of it on the one email address that is protected by SpamArrest. Anyone who is not in my address book gets challenged and must respond in order for their email to go through.
In the last two years, on that one email account, david@stlawrence.to, I have received about 60,000 spam emails. The spam rate has increased from approximately 100 per day in 2003 to 200 per day at the present time. That’s a lot of garbage to delete.
If I hadn’t made the decision to go with SpamArrest, I would be snarling at my email each morning like Gretchen does.

Disasters are a wake-up call
When a personal or national disaster occurs, it’s because someone was not paying attention.
There are always warning signs of personal, marital and national disasters. Whether it is a cheating spouse, IRS impoundment of property, or a slaughter of innocent civilians in a 9-11 terrorist event, there is ample evidence of wrong-doing that was observed and ignored until too late.
This is not an encouragement to live your life in fear and apprehension, it is a strong recommendation for you not to be so damn reasonable! If bad things are happening around you, you need to do something about them, or get out. Don’t whine. Do something effective or prepare to have your life shatter. Life is only fair if you insist on making it so.
Living a “good” life and being nice to people does not make our life secure, it is just a tiny part of the picture. We need to make sure that our environment is free from dangerous activity. Our environment is not our little neighborhood any more, it includes our state, our nation, and the condition of the earth that we live on. Ignoring destructive activities opens the door to lawlessness, terrorist attacks, and even global warming or pollution of the oceans.
We try to do what seems right, but we sometimes miss vital indicators and find that all of our plans come crashing to the ground. We need to treat disasters as a wake-up call. We have to make new decisions and move on.
